Aesop Queer Library returns with 'Body of Work' theme and new Reading Room

exhibition · 2026-06-22

Aesop's Queer Library returns for its sixth edition from July 3-5, transforming its Soho location into a literary hub. A new Reading Room opens at Aesop Spitalfields and Brighton outpost. The pop-up offers free books by LGBTQIA+ authors and allies, no purchase required. The 2026 edition, titled 'Body of Work,' focuses on the queer body as an act of joyful resistance and challenges assumptions. It highlights Switchboard, a national LGBTQIA+ support line founded in 1974 that has supported 4 million people. This year's featured book is 'The Log Books' by Tash Walker and Adam Zmith, a tribute to lives impacted by Switchboard. The authors describe their work as a 'rich cacophony of LGBTQ+ life and history in Britain,' emphasizing that queer rights are fragile and history is repeating. The Soho location is at 41 Lexington Street, London W1F 9AJ; Spitalfields at 75-77 Brushfield Street, London E1 6AA; Brighton at 104-105 Gloucester Road, Brighton BN1 4AP. Brighton's Reading Room runs July 31-August 2.
