Adriano Design's Nivola reimagines home driving simulators with toy car aesthetics and dual material options

Adriano Design Studio has developed Nivola, a domestic driving simulator that integrates complex technology into home environments through abstract geometric forms. The design team, led by Davide Adriano and Gabriele Adriano, created two material variations: a 4 mm aluminum sheet version with technical character and a curved plywood version suited for domestic interiors. Unlike typical simulators with exposed mechanical structures, Nivola conceals functional components within a unified volume, presenting itself as a cohesive object rather than an assemblage of parts. The conceptual inspiration comes from toy cars, using simplified geometries to evoke movement while maintaining spatial integration. This approach positions the simulator within furniture design language, bridging performance-driven devices with interior aesthetics. The project addresses how high-performance equipment can coexist with residential spaces through controlled formal systems. Curved planar surfaces define the structure, reducing complexity into a clear geometric framework. Nivola represents a redefinition of driving simulators as domestic objects where material expression and technological systems converge.
