Adeolu Osibodu's Surreal Photography Explores Memory and Impermanence

artist · 2026-09-23

Born in Lagos in 1997, Nigerian photographer Adeolu Osibodu creates conceptual images with a surreal aesthetic centered on memory, time, dreams, and the perception of reality. His photographs feature solitary figures immersed in nature, elusive bodies suspended in air, doubled and deformed through motion blur and multiple exposure, often captured in unnatural movements and poses that evoke blurred dreams and distant memories. This dreamlike visual dimension emerges particularly in "Impermanence," a project in which Osibodu reflects on the transient nature of existence and human experience. The series' photographs, characterized by minimalist compositions and cinematic lighting, do not follow a linear narrative but capture fragments of seemingly disconnected situations, united by a subtle sense of indefiniteness and change. Osibodu currently lives and works in London. His works have been exhibited in numerous international exhibitions and festivals, including LagosPhoto Festival, PhotoVogue Festival in Milan, and Photoville in New York.
