Adam Higgins Presents 'Lollipop' at Chris Sharp Gallery, Los Angeles
The Chris Sharp Gallery in Los Angeles is currently showcasing 'Lollipop,' the second solo exhibition of painter Adam Higgins. This exhibit displays paintings that depict translucent-handled screwdrivers overlaid on photographic images from Higgins' everyday experiences. He meticulously arranges the screwdrivers on prints and then re-photographs them for reference. The perception of the artwork changes with the viewer's distance: distant viewing highlights the photography, mid-range reveals gesture and color, while close inspection leads to abstraction. Higgins proposes that the screwdriver can represent multiple life roles. Born in 1989 in Huntington Beach, California, he resides in Los Angeles. His recent solo shows include 'My Salad Years: La Suite' in Paris (2023) and 'Lonesome' in Memphis (2022), with upcoming group exhibitions like 'Muna Island' (2026) and 'Trespass sweetly urged' in Berlin (2024).
