Acronym Collective Studio Converts Former Brewery into Community Centre in Velká Bíteš
A former brewery in Velká Bíteš, Czech Republic, has been reimagined by Acronym Collective Studio into the Kulturní Centrum Pivovar. This facility, which functioned as a brewery until 1942, now houses a library, an information center, a family center, a community hall, and creative workshops. Architect Pavel Gebauer focused on enhancing the building's civic role, repositioning the main entrance to the rounded corner that faces the square. Notable features include a curved, perforated brick facade, a spiral concrete staircase, and a full-height window for the library. The lower level boasts exhibition spaces with arched windows, while the upper floor features a hall with a timber slat roof, providing ample space. This project follows KOGAA's recent conversion of an industrial hall into an art gallery.
