Abstract forest installation debuts at 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen
The 'Wood for the Trees' installation is featured at the Material Matters exhibition during 3 Days of Design 2026 in Copenhagen, taking place from June 10 to June 12, 2026. Created by Benchmark and designed by London-based studio Mitre & Mondays under the guidance of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), this installation honors timber as a vital design element while showcasing forest ecosystems. It incorporates logs, stumps, trunks, and a canopy of veneers, enhanced by audio and scents to simulate a forest ambiance. Inspired by AHEC's documentary 'Forested Future' by Petr Krejčí, the project highlights sustainable practices, with directors Finn Thomson, Josef Shanley-Jackson, and Freya Bolton using American hardwoods for future reuse. David Venables, AHEC's European director, stressed the importance of recognizing wood as a renewable resource.
