Abdulaziz AlHumaidhi's Faye House in Kuwait balances transparency and privacy

Architect Abdulaziz AlHumaidhi has completed Faye House, a contemporary home in Kuwait City's Shamiyah neighborhood. The design centers on a vertical void that descends from a skylight, expanding into an organic form that draws light downward. The corner plot allowed for a private garden, which anchors the open-plan ground floor. A curved travertine wall addresses the challenge of transparency versus privacy, filtering views while casting moving shadows. The upper floor is designed for multigenerational living, with flexible spaces that can later become two independent units. The home features recessed openings and layered façades to connect interiors with the outdoors. AlHumaidhi emphasizes a sense of gradual discovery through light, shadow, and spatial dialogues.
