A White Barn by M.S.A.A. atelier in Beijing's Eastern Suburbs

architecture-design · 2026-06-26

The M.S.A.A. atelier has finalized 'A White Barn,' an installation spanning 32 m² located in Beijing's eastern suburbs along the Chaobai River's eastern bank. Architect Zihan Li spearheaded the project, which was completed in 2026. The area features wheat fields that produce two harvests each year, with a high-speed rail line running above. The architects refer to their creation as an 'experiment in subtle intervention' at the intersection of urban expansion and rural villages, resulting in a distinctive visual landscape. Zihan Li has captured the structure in photographs.
