A Threshold Designs Six-Story City Pride School for Dense Pune District

A Threshold, the architecture studio led by Avinash Ankalge, completed City Pride School, a primary education institution in the Ravet Pradhikaran area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, with the project dated 2025. The school occupies a compact, high-value urban plot in a densely populated neighborhood, conditions that forced a six-level vertical scheme and sharply reduced the common areas and horizontal open spaces normally available to a school. To answer that constraint, the design team adopted a "school within a school" philosophy, organizing the building so that spatial scales read as intimate and the learning environment improves as a result. The stated aim is a self-sufficient educational setting that fosters community and interconnection among students. Ankalge led the design with Dhananjay Chaudhari and Manthan Batwal. C. Ramkumar of Rays Consulting Engineers served as structural consultant, Architectural Energy Solutions handled mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection, Kritija Constructions acted as civil contractor, and City Pride School carried out project management. Miwa Negoro curated the presentation, and Pranit Bora Studio produced the photographs. The project is classified under schools.
