A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE and Tomokazu Matsuyama Turn Paintings into Wearable Art
The “TYPE-XII Tomokazu Matsuyama project” is a collaboration between A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE and artist Tomokazu Matsuyama, where his artwork is reimagined on fabric. This collection integrates clothing, painting, and installation, allowing Matsuyama's visuals to interact with the human form. It stems from his solo show “Tomokazu Matsuyama: FIRST LAST” at Azabudai Hills Gallery, resulting in an expanded line. The textiles, printed in Kyoto, feature a triangular base pattern that creates a quilted effect. An exhibition at ISSEY MIYAKE / NEW YORK and MADO will be on display until August 31, highlighting garments, canvases, hanging textiles, and 3D-printed horse sculptures. Additionally, seven artworks are adapted into unique knitwear. Matsuyama fuses Japanese motifs with European art, street culture, and modern design.
