A Cormelá: Self-Built Renovation of a Traditional Fisherman's House
MARXE a+t has completed the renovation of A Cormelá, one of the last unaltered traditional fisherman's houses in its nucleus. The project, executed through self-construction with local artisans and industrialists, adds a contemporary layer that enhances the original humble architecture. Low-tech and low-cost passive measures, including a north-facing skylight for ventilation and a biomass stove, ensure hygrothermal comfort. The process demonstrated the viability of combining artisanal and industrialized systems, overcoming administrative hurdles. Photographs by Luís Díaz Díaz document the finished work.
