A Certain Distance at Café des Glaces, Tonnerre

The group exhibition 'A Certain Distance' at Café des Glaces in Tonnerre, France, explores distance as a situational condition rather than a measurement. Featuring works by Clémentine Adou, Park McArthur, Alexandre Khondji, Hélène Janicot, and Matthias Odin, the show integrates with the building's architecture, using its rooms, thresholds, and views. Park McArthur's video 'Day, 2023' relates to a distant view of Tonnerre, while Clémentine Adou's 'Red Noses, 2026' and 'Daddy long legs’ hands, 2023' play with fragility and visibility. Alexandre Khondji's 'Single Insert, 2026' uses an endoscopic camera to explore hidden architectural spaces. Hélène Janicot's works focus on edges and residues, and Matthias Odin's 'Antipression.1 (maman), 2026' draws on his mother's compulsive repainting.
