A arte Invernizzi Opens Dual Exhibition for Morellet Centenary

exhibition · 2026-07-15

A arte Invernizzi in Milan presents a dual exhibition featuring François Morellet and Gianni Colombo, curated by Luca Massimo Barbero. The show is part of the national project '∞François Morellet∞ Centenario in Italia 1926 – 2026', coordinated by Paolo Bolpagni and Alessandro Gallicchio in collaboration with the Estate Morellet. The project includes exhibitions, works, and conferences at venues such as the Accademia di Francia – Villa Medici in Rome, Fondazione Biscozzi | Rimbaud in Lecce, Fondazione Ragghianti in Lucca, MacaMorterone in Morterone, Università Luigi Bocconi and Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, and Villa Pisani Bonetti in Bagnolo di Lonigo. The exhibition explores the friendship and mutual respect between Morellet and Colombo, which began in the late 1950s. Epicarmo and Tiziana Invernizzi met François and Danielle Morellet through Colombo in the 1980s. Colombo was a member of Gruppo T, Morellet of GRAV. The upper floor features Morellet's wall installation '1 trame 30°, 1 trame 40° avec 3 intersections centrées' (1977-2026) in adhesive tape, connected to Colombo's staircase intervention 'Bariestesia' (1975). Works include Colombo's 'Opus Incertum' (1992) and 'Strutturazione pulsante' (1959), and his environment 'Spazio curvo' (1992) with fluorescent PVC tubes. A 1987 portrait by Morellet of Colombo links the two floors. The lower floor presents key works highlighting their investigation of visual perception, modularity, distortion, and viewer participation.
