A$AP Rocky Curates Paul Rudolph's Walker Guest House for Basic Space Auction in Los Angeles

American musician A$AP Rocky and his design studio Hommemade have curated the interior of the Walker Guest House, a historic modular structure designed by architect Paul Rudolph in 1951. The project was commissioned by the online design gallery Basic Space for its Basic Space.LA event in Los Angeles. The modernist guest house, originally built for a remote Florida island, was relocated to California in 2020 and stored before being reassembled and refurbished for this presentation. It is now publicly displayed for the first time at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. Hommemade's interior design features high-end contemporary and historical furniture, including pieces by Italian designer Gaetano Pesce, works from the postmodern Memphis Group, and items by mid-century designers like Raphaël Raffel and Estudio Campana. The house itself incorporates a modular steel-grid system, wooden wind flaps weighted by metal orbs, and is supported by stilts. A two-by-four board wall system marks where the structure was cut for transport and also supports an artwork by Mauricio Cattelan. The only item not for sale in the guest house is a bed from the late 1960s by Florence's Superstudio, which is owned by A$AP Rocky. The Basic Space.LA event includes additional exhibitions by Carpenter Workshop Gallery, Rajan Bijlani, and publishing house HURS. The event runs from March 28 to 29 in Los Angeles.
