59th Virtual Indigenous Architecture Colloquium: Color, Symbolism and Technology in Maya Civilization

The 59th Virtual Indigenous Architecture Colloquium, organized by ARQA, the New Indigenous Architecture Colloquium, the National University of Misiones, and the Autonomous University of Yucatán, will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 18h Argentina, 15h Mexico, 16h Peru, and 21h GMT. The session, titled "Color, Symbolism and Technology in Maya Civilization, Mexico," will be delivered by Dr. Mario Pérez Cortés from Mexico. The event will be streamed live on ARQA's YouTube channel and Facebook page, where participants can comment and ask questions via chat. No registration is required. Dr. Pérez Cortés holds a bachelor's degree in physics from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, a master's and PhD in sciences with a specialty in optics from the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE-Puebla), and a postdoctorate at the Optical Sciences of the University of Arizona. He is a level I member of the National System of Researchers (SNII) and works at the Autonomous University of Yucatán, Faculty of Engineering, in Physical Engineering. His research includes electronic optics, physical optics, holography, and optical materials, with a notable 2024 publication in Elsevier on Diffuse Reflectance Integrating Ellipsoids.
