‘5 × 5 Baltimore: The Art of Black Men’ Pairs Lehigh Valley and Baltimore Artists at Eubie Blake Cultural Center
From June 20 to August 22, 2026, the Eubie Blake Cultural Center in Baltimore, Maryland, hosted ‘5 × 5 Baltimore: The Art of Black Men,’ featuring ten artists from Baltimore and Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. This exhibition emerged from the 4 × 5 Exhibition held in May 2025 at Eleven20 Studios, which was curated by Danny Moyer with Al Johnson as co-curator. Alma Roberts, the Exhibition Advisor, suggested the expansion, which led to collaboration with co-curator Barbara Bullard. The participating Lehigh Valley artists included Al Johnson, Anthony Smith Jr., Charles Stonewall, Femi J. Johnson, and Rigo Peralta, while Baltimore's contributors were Ainsley Burrows, Ernest Shaw, Jeffrey Kent, Jerry Prettyman, and Larry “Poncho” Brown. The curators aimed to establish a dynamic framework for future exhibitions.
