39th Salón Gourmets features gladiator-themed meat competition and culinary showcases
The 39th Salón Gourmets, a premier fair for quality food and beverages, featured various competitions and culinary showcases. Ismael Peña from Restaurante El Higuerón in Marbella triumphed in the 7th National Carving Art Championship with his entry "Más Más Meat." Meanwhile, Frutos Jiménez and Miguel Ángel Expósito claimed victory in the 2nd Gazpachuelos Gourmet Championship. At the 18th Spanish Oyster Opening Championship, Mohamed El Harouat achieved an impressive feat by opening 40 oysters in just 5'13". Additionally, Andrés Torreiro won the XCHEF Challenge for sustainable cuisine, and Chef Aurelio Morales unveiled The Bleu Table at Mercamadrid. Fernando Calle Izquierdo emerged victorious in the Carbonara Challenge, while the Canary Islands Government showcased volcanic wines. Restaurante Chirón de Valdemoro was awarded the Best Callos of Madrid, and José Ramón Urtasun conducted a vertical tasting of Trasnocho wine.
