32nd São Paulo Biennial 'Incerteza viva' Opens Amid Political Crisis

The 32nd Bienal de São Paulo, named 'Incerteza viva' (Living Uncertainty), will take place from September 5 to 10 for invited guests and from September 7 to December 11, 2016, at the Ciccillo Matarrazzo Pavilion. Curated by Jochen Volz alongside Gabi Ngcobo, Júlia Rebouças, Lars Bang Larsen, and Sofía Olascoaga, the event examines modern existence against the backdrop of Brazil's political crisis, particularly the suspension of President Dilma Rousseff due to corruption allegations. Approximately 90 artists, including Erika Verzutti and Hito Steyerl, will be featured. Additionally, the Latitude platform will present 36 galleries showcasing 130 artists in São Paulo from September 2 to 4. Noteworthy exhibitions include Frida Kahlo at MIS and Los Carpinteros at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil.
