2050+ Designs Nomadic Library for Museo delle Civiltà in Rome
The interdisciplinary studio 2050+ has created The Library of Bees, a nomadic modular library commissioned by the MUCIV – Museo delle Civiltà in Rome. The installation features wheeled modular shelves, perforated panels, exposed cables, and a soft fabric running along the floor, all designed to be reconfigured. The first two components, Pollen 1 and Pollen 2, are prototypes of an expandable family of nomadic objects. The project questions the role of museums today, advocating for inclusivity and intersectionality while confronting colonial histories. The deliberately unfinished aesthetic—exposed joints and connections—contrasts with the historic palace setting, emphasizing impermanence and adaptability.
