2026 BMC Ecology and Evolution and BMC Zoology Photo Competition Winners Announced

The winners of the 2026 photography competition held by BMC Ecology and Evolution and BMC Zoology, organized by Springer Nature, have been revealed, highlighting the intersection of art and science. Sritam Kumar Sethy emerged as the overall champion with his piece 'Windows to the Wetlands,' showcasing an orange-tailed marsh dart damselfly (Ceriagrion cerinorubellum) in Odisha, India. The runner-up, Ryan Wagner from Washington State University, presented 'Space for Frogs,' featuring students with a northern red-legged frog (Rana aurora) near Portland, Oregon. Category winners included Victor Huertas (Relationships in Nature), Liam Brennan (Research in Action), and Allen Tian (Protecting Our Planet), with runners-up such as Alwin Hardenbol, Brandon Güell, and Abhijeet Bayani. Three additional photos received special recognition, underscoring photography's importance in conveying scientific findings.
