200 Years of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha: Exhibition on Duke Ernst I

An exhibition commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha is being held at the Veste Coburg, spotlighting Duke Ernst I, the duchy’s founder in 1826. It showcases more than 200 artifacts, with some making their Coburg debut, illustrating Ernst's role as a ruler and patron of the arts. This exhibition is open until September 20, 2026. Concurrently, Schloss Friedenstein's Spiegelsaal in Gotha will host a related exhibition until July 5, 2026. Additionally, the Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation will unveil '... im Auftrag des Herzogs ...' from April 12, 2026, to January 3, 2027. Duke Ernst I governed the Principality of Lichtenberg from 1816 to 1834. The event is backed by several foundations and includes a detailed publication.
