1913 Gibson guitar owned by Eric Clapton and George Harrison leads Heritage auction

A 1913 Gibson Style O archtop acoustic guitar, serial number 14106, once owned by Eric Clapton and George Harrison, is being auctioned by Heritage. Clapton acquired the instrument in 1968 during a period of significant personal and professional transition. At that time, his band Cream was preparing for farewell shows in London and recorded their final album Goodbye from an October 19 concert at the Forum in Los Angeles. Simultaneously, Harrison was contemplating his solo career as the Beatles approached their dissolution. The guitar's history prior to Clapton's ownership remains undocumented, though it appears to have been well-maintained. This auction highlights a pivotal moment when both musicians faced career crossroads intertwined with personal drama, including Clapton's romantic feelings for Harrison's wife Pattie Boyd.
