In Rome, Casa Barro, a 1960s apartment, has been transformed by 02A Studio (Marco Rulli and Thomas Grossi) through the addition of a curved red lacquered element that reconfigures the lengthy central corridor and alters the traditional day-night layout. This redesign prioritizes light over the conventional arrangement of rooms. A spacious iron-and-glass window greets visitors at the entrance, brightening the study. The corridor's gentle curves draw attention to the home's core, echoing techniques used in Casa Tirreno. The bedroom showcases the red volume against textured clay walls, while a mirrored door cleverly hides the kitchen, enhancing spatial perception. Contrasting materials, such as Venetian terrazzo and herringbone oak parquet, define the living room, which also features a dining area with a large table and an oxide-green sideboard, framed by an archway. The blend of inherited furniture and design classics contributes to a cozy atmosphere.
