cultural-heritage · 2026-10-20

On 22 October, the MEV – Museo Ebraico di Venezia will reopen its doors after undergoing seven years of restoration, expansion, and reorganization, with a total investment amounting to 5.5 million euros. Established in 1954 by the Comunità Ebraica di Venezia, the museum boasts a rich collection of Jewish art and culture. The exhibition area has been enlarged from 1,290 to over 1,700 square metres, now featuring new galleries, a bookshop, a library, and educational spaces. Curator Marcella Ansaldi emphasizes the narrative of 500 years of Jewish life in Venice. The museum includes the scola Tedesca, scola Italiana, and Canton in Campo Ghetto Novo, with efforts made to conserve their religious significance. Located at Cannaregio 2902/B, it operates from 10 to 18; ticket prices are 18 euros for adults, 14 euros reduced, and 11 euros for residents.
