Usine Baug's Noir Debuts at Romaeuropa Festival's Ultra REF Program
In 2018, Ermanno Pingitore, Stefano Rocco, Claudia Russo, and Emanuele Cavalcanti established the theatre collective Usine Baug. At the Romaeuropa Festival 2026, they showcased a performance titled Noir as part of Ultra REF. This production explores the mysterious filmmaker Angel Forloy through a series of contradictory testimonies. Audience members are drawn into the experience, which includes evidence from Angel's residence and narratives from the Emilian valley where he vanished. The project features snippets of Angel's incomplete film, drawing inspiration from Adam Curtis, along with miniature sets crafted by Johanna Tedde. The stage shifts through various locations, influenced by Carlo Lucarelli and Pablo Trincia, culminating in a narrative that prompts the audience to reflect on their own uncertainties after the case concludes.
