Teatro Goldoni di Livorno Turns 180, Launches International Call for Site-Specific Velario Artwork
The Fondazione Goldoni has issued a global invitation titled "180 anni del Teatro Goldoni – Il Teatro della Luce," encouraging artists to develop site-specific installations for the Teatro Carlo Goldoni in Livorno. Artists can submit their proposals until 1 November 2026. The selected work will be unveiled on 24 July 2027 and will join the Foundation’s collection. The theatre, which was opened on 24 July 1847 and designed by Giuseppe Cappellini, is known for its distinctive iron-and-glass vault. It has been the venue for notable events, such as the 1890 debut of Cavalleria rusticana. A jury headed by Vincenzo Farinella will choose the winning project, which will receive a €15,000 fee and a production budget of up to €20,000. Installation is scheduled from 1 to 22 July 2027.
