Tang Contemporary Closes Hong Kong Space as Super Dakota Shuts Brussels Gallery

institutional · 2026-10-12

Tang Contemporary has shut down its Hong Kong venue, citing around $200,000 in unpaid rent and fees, according to landlord Grand Apex Ltd. Artists are alleging they are owed significant amounts, totaling tens of thousands of dollars. Director Vivian Har mentioned that a recovery strategy is in progress, while other branches in Bangkok, Beijing, Seoul, Singapore, and another Hong Kong location continue to operate. Meanwhile, Super Dakota in Brussels, established by Damîen Dakota, will permanently close after 15 years at the end of October, featuring its final exhibition by Adrian Geller. Dakota intends to shift towards a curatorial research facility and initiate the MeatSpace Institute of Arts. This follows Eva Presenhuber's decision to vacate her Vienna space.
