Palazzo Nardini Marks 50 Years Since Feminist Occupation with Graphic Novel and Site-Specific Works

publication · 2026-04-26

On 2 October 1976, feminists took over Palazzo Nardini in Rome to create Italy's inaugural Casa Internazionale della Donna, a movement that continued until 1984 when they relocated to the Buon Pastore complex. Now, the building is being revitalized through artistic initiatives and community programs. The 50th anniversary was celebrated on 2 October with discussions, film screenings, and the release of Margherita. Il sogno tra le stanze di Palazzo Nardini, a graphic novel by Maria Giovanna Esposito, set to be available from 9 October. New artistic contributions by Marinella Senatore and Davide Dormino pay tribute to women's roles. Andrea Mei from WoW Foundation described the site as a hub for cultural engagement and political creativity.
