Opera Festival 2026: Milo's Sixth Edition Explores Surfaces, Layers, Overlaps
The sixth Opera Festival in Milo, Sicily, held under the theme "Surfaces, layers, overlaps," prioritized social innovation instead of traditional historical events. Andrea Cavallaro, the founder of Fare Studio, stressed the significance of nurturing long-term relationships with artists and supporting local associations. Following a fire in the summer of 2022, The Ballroom continues to need maintenance. Fare Studio's initiative from 2019, Fare INNESTI, connected artists with local businesses for creative reinterpretations. The festival's 2026 schedule features Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, Bluemarina, and Radio Hito, emphasizing natural themes. Discussions included contributions from Esmeralda Moretti, Beatrice Puglisi, Marinella Fiume, and Chiara Nott. This year also saw the completion of the documentary Genesi, alongside community projects like school initiatives and the reopening of Milo's library. Winter music events are hosted at the Maison du Cheval.
