NT Live festeggia 17 anni in Australia: The Misanthrope e Golden Boy guidano il cartellone 2025
Per 17 anni, National Theatre Live (NT Live) ha portato le rappresentazioni teatrali britanniche nei cinema australiani, con Sharmill Films che ne cura la distribuzione dal 2009. L'iniziativa è partita con l'interpretazione di Helen Mirren in Phèdre e ha rapidamente guadagnato popolarità. Ora conta in media circa 50 cinema per titolo, raggiungendo occasionalmente fino a 80–90. The Audience, con Mirren nel 2013, è stata la prima produzione a superare il milione di dollari al botteghino australiano. I prossimi spettacoli includono The Misanthrope il 1° ottobre e Golden Boy il 19 novembre. L'Australia è il secondo mercato più performante al mondo per NT Live. La stagione 2027 del National Theatre includerà Death of a Salesman e Suddenly Last Summer, anche se i titoli australiani non sono ancora stati annunciati.
