MIPphest 2026: Matera Photography Festival Marks 10 Years with 'Orizzonti Fluidi'
The Matera International Photography and Visual Arts Festival, known as MIPphest, is currently in its tenth iteration, running under the theme 'Orizzonti Fluidi' until 10 January 2027. Directed by Antonello Di Gennaro, the festival delves into the Mediterranean as a dynamic 'condition of the gaze,' emphasizing themes of migration, belonging, and cultural exchanges. Di Gennaro, who is also a photographer and curator, intertwines visual arts with the cultural essence of Matera. The event features exhibitions, screenings, workshops, and discussions with prominent artists. Starting in late October, the festival will present the Sony World Photography Awards 2026. Various site-specific installations are displayed in churches and archives. Vittoria Caprotti conducted the interview for Artribune.
