Milano invests 22.3 million euros to relaunch municipal libraries

The municipality of Milan has revealed an investment plan of 22.3 million euros aimed at strengthening and modernizing its 26 libraries, including 24 district libraries, the Sormani, and the Bibliobus. Presented by Mayor Giuseppe Sala and Councillor for Culture Filippo Del Corno, the project includes hiring new librarians, extending evening opening hours until 11 PM, and increasing digital loans. Users will be able to download free ebooks of mysteries set in Milan, thanks to collaborations with publishers such as Mondadori and Garzanti. Additionally, new libraries will be built in Lorenteggio (6 million) and Calvairate (3 million). Over the past year, the library system has seen over one million books loaned and nearly 90,000 registered users.
