MAXXI Roma Seeks New MAXXI Arte Director After Stocchi Exit
Since Francesco Stocchi left his position in June, the MAXXI museum in Rome is searching for a new head for its MAXXI Arte department. Designed by Zaha Hadid, the museum is in the midst of a restructuring. Starting 15 June 2026, a new rule will replace the artistic director and general secretary roles with a general director, who is expected to be chosen in July. Possible candidates include Giuliana Benassi, Cecilia Canziani, Valentino Catricalà, and Marco Delogu. Initially, the candidate pool also had names like Andrea Bellini and Cesare Biasini Selvaggi. Final interviews are likely to take place around mid-October, but there hasn’t been any official word yet. As of 28 September, the MAXXI Arte leadership position was still not listed on their website.
