Matera Hosts 10 Artist Residencies for Mediterranean Cultural Dialogue in 2026
From September to November 2026, Matera will host a series of ten artist residencies, organized by Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019 in partnership with local cultural entities and with support from the Comune di Matera, Ministero del Turismo, and Regione Basilicata. This initiative, titled Terre Immerse – Comunità Creative Euromediterranee, is part of the Matera Capitale Mediterranea della Cultura e del Dialogo 2026, centering on four key themes. Palestinian artist Emily Jacir will kick off the program on September 2, followed by a diverse group of musicians and artists from across the Mediterranean, such as Stefano Saletti, Driant Zeneli, and others, each crafting their own distinct projects. Rita Orlando highlighted the aim of these residencies to weave together various Mediterranean viewpoints into enduring creations.
