Lezioni di Storia Returns to Rome's Auditorium with "Il potere dei classici," Nine Lectures from Plato to Asimov
The new cycle of Lezioni di Storia, titled "Il potere dei classici," will run at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome from 15 November 2026 to 18 April 2027. Nine lectures will examine canonical works that produced political, cultural, and social consequences, beginning with Plato's Republic and ending with Isaac Asimov's I, Robot. The series is conceived by Editori Laterza and produced in coproduction with the Fondazione Musica per Roma, with Paolo Di Paolo introducing each session. Gennaro Carillo opens on 15 November at 11:00 with Plato's Republic; Francesca Cenerini follows on 29 November on Tacitus's Annals; Maurizio Viroli speaks on 13 December about Machiavelli's The Prince; Massimo Bucciantini addresses Galileo's Dialogue on 17 January 2027; Lisa Roscioni discusses Manzoni's The Betrothed on 31 January; Alessandro Barbero examines Ernst Kantorowicz's Frederick the Second on 7 February; Michela Marzano covers Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex on 28 February; Vanessa Roghi presents don Lorenzo Milani's Letter to a Teacher on 14 March; and Gino Roncaglia closes on 18 April 2027 with Asimov's I, Robot. The program spans twenty-five centuries of ideas, from the Greek polis to generative artificial intelligence, exploring how books shape political and social transformation.
