La Neta Murals: Monterey Bay Collective Turns Public Walls into Community Memory
Founded in 2020 in California's Monterey Bay area, La Neta Murals is a collective of artists including Arsenio Baca, Natalia Corazza, Gerardo Zambrano, Avelino Sanher, and Sea Sevilla, focusing on cultural identity and authenticity. Their artwork incorporates local histories and landscapes. In 2024, they completed "Wind Dance" in King City, California, a mural measuring 12.2 meters in width and 4.5 meters in height, featuring a baile folklórico dancer intertwined with the hills and wildflowers. Contributions came from local artists Gustavo Perez, Jude Yriarte, Zitlali Villagomez Monroy, Yesenia Chavez, and Debra Cobb. Additionally, in 2023, they created "Service Before Self," a 21-meter mural for Seaside's fire station, honoring the area's military heritage. The collective also offers mural creation workshops for youth.
