GAMeC Receives Major Mario Sironi Donation Including Cartoon for 1935 Rome Mural
GAMeC in Bergamo has received a significant donation of artworks from Mario Sironi, a prominent Italian painter of the twentieth century, as part of a collaboration between the Comune di Bergamo and art historian Andrea Sironi-Straußwald, the artist's nephew. This collection features a substantial preparatory cartoon for L'Italia tra le Arti e le Scienze (1935), a bozzetto intended for the Palazzo delle Poste in Bergamo, and six drawings created for the tomb of Sironi's daughter, Rossana. These pieces emphasize Sironi's ties to Bergamo, where he is interred. The unveiling of the donation is scheduled for Friday, 16 October at 18:30, with free entry, and will be included in the exhibition Una Galleria, Tante Collezioni.
