Bologna Culture Assessor Daniele Del Pozzo Outlines 90 Free Cultural Spaces and Ravone Park Plans
In December 2024, Daniele Del Pozzo was appointed as Assessore alla Cultura for the Comune di Bologna by Mayor Matteo Lepore. His cultural policy prioritizes the creation of free public spaces and the promotion of artistic research. Del Pozzo, born in Ancona in 1966 and a DAMS graduate from Bologna in 1994, established the Gender Bender festival in 2003 and Teatro Arcobaleno in 2013. As of January 2025, he has made approximately 90 free spaces available, including Villa delle Rose and MAMbo. He also introduced the Parco del Ravone, an 11-hectare site dedicated to urban and cultural ecology. Del Pozzo stresses the importance of allowing artists the necessary time within public administration, rather than focusing solely on immediate KPIs. This interview was conducted by Massimiliano Tonelli for Artribune.
