Art on Cards: Bartolomeo Pietromarchi's Author Deck Series Debuts with Francesco Clemente

publication · 2026-10-10

Art on Cards is an innovative project by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, a museum director and critic, aimed at incorporating contemporary art into everyday experiences through artist-designed card decks. The inaugural deck features works by Francesco Clemente, who was born in Naples in 1952. Upcoming decks will highlight artists such as Shirin Neshat (born in Qazvin, 1957), Pascale Marthine Tayou (born in Nkongsamba, 1966), and Tomás Saraceno (born in San Miguel de Tucumán, 1973). Each deck, published by Magonza, comprises 48 full-image cards along with a booklet containing rules and stories. Collaborations are in progress with LUISS Master's program and Castello di Rivoli. A Kickstarter campaign supports this initiative, culminating in a launch event on Sunday, October 11, from 7 to 9 pm at MAXXI in Rome.
