Zoometry: Creative Matters and RDAI Translate Nature's Hidden Geometry into Hand-Knotted Rugs

Zoometry, a collection of six hand-knotted rugs inspired by microscopic natural forms, has been developed by Creative Matters, a design studio based in Toronto, in collaboration with Paris's RDAI. This collection will be on display at Mouvement Modernes Gallery in Paris from September 8 to 23 during Paris Design Week. Each rug begins as a digital design, with a 3-by-2-metre piece featuring approximately 1.8 million knots, crafted at a density of 200 knots per square meter. Among the standout designs are Butterfly 03 and Spider 01. This initiative is part of RDAI's creative research program, which enhances their work on luxury retail projects. Additionally, the exhibition will feature photography and film by Nepalese photojournalist Narendra Shrestha, illustrating the rugs' transformation from digital art to traditional weaving in Nepal.
