Zhipu AI launches harness for GLM-5.2, targets Anthropic with developer promotions

Zhipu AI, also known as Z.ai, has released a harness for its GLM-5.2 model, a control system enabling large language models to operate as autonomous AI agents. The tool is designed to help developers build coding assistants, intensifying competition with US rival Anthropic. Anthropic recently removed hidden code that tracked Chinese users of its Claude Code platform. To attract developers, Zhipu announced promotions on Wednesday, including a 50% increase in data quotas for existing subscribers and 5 million free tokens for new ZCode users. Zixuan Li, Zhipu's head of global operations, stated on X that ZCode was built "standing on the shoulders of an incredible open developer community" and that "competition and collaboration are what push all of us forward." The move reflects the growing battle between Chinese and US AI labs over automated coding platforms.
