Zeitz MOCAA launches three new African children's books with exhibition and public events

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the BMW Centre for Art Education at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa will unveil 'The Stories that Ran Away,' a children's book series, during a media preview, book launch, and exhibition opening. This event will showcase three new titles: 'Nkanyamba,' 'One World, One Family,' and 'Why Fire and Water Are Enemies.' Author Meridian Berndt teamed up with illustrators Isabelle Grobler, Jax Lamb, Vix Venter, and Zhi Zulu. The exhibition, which features artworks from the books and contributions from Steenberg Primary School students, will be open until June 7, 2026. A panel discussion at 10 am will include the author and illustrators, followed by a 3 pm gathering with a guest talk from Philippa Namutebi Kabali-Kagwa. The series launched in 2024, with worldwide distribution commencing in November 2025.
