Zeitz MOCAA and UWC Museum Fellows Conclude 2025 Program with Public Symposium and Card Game

The 2025 cohort of the Zeitz MOCAA and University of the Western Cape Museum Fellowship Program concluded their year with a public symposium titled 'Our People's Library' on January 22. Fellows Myles Tarentaal, Esinam Damalie, Deborah Olatunji, Evyn Bileri Banawoye, Arafa C. Hamadi, and Keamogetse Mosienyane presented research papers developed at UWC through presentations and panel discussions. The event explored how knowledge is mediated within institutional contexts, examining themes of authorship, collective sense-making, and marginal voices. As a final offering, the fellows launched 'Gather: Our People's Library,' a conversational card game with 48 prompts designed to facilitate discussions about solidarity, revolution, and exile. The program represents a collaborative effort between the museum and university to develop new approaches to museum practice through critical engagement and public programming.
