Zaha Hadid Architects Unveils Curving Cultural Complex Along Hangzhou Canal

Zaha Hadid Architects has revealed plans for the Qiantang Bay Cultural District, a waterfront development in Hangzhou, China. The project will feature three main structures along the Zhedong Canal: a library, an International Youth Centre, and a museum, along with additional facilities like a gallery, music hall, and fitness center. The design incorporates sweeping forms inspired by the local landscape, with extensive parklands, plazas, and performance spaces. The studio stated the development aims to transform former industrial areas into a green corridor, integrating flood-prevention strategies and connecting both sides of the canal via bridges and pathways.
