YXDesigners' 'The Tree' Observation Tower in Longyou, Zhejiang

In 2023, YXDesigners completed an observation tower called 'The Tree,' which measures 155 square meters and is situated in Longyou County, Zhejiang. This project is part of the 'HU SHI GUANG ART ECO SITE,' a joint initiative involving 27 to 40 architects, landscape designers, and artists from the 1980s and 1990s. Led by the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, along with Fengyuzhu and Bilibili, the goal is to attract young people back to Longyou by improving its cultural scene. The design team includes Jiahong Lu, Linghuizi Mo, Yiwen Xue, and Tan Peng, while ZZ Architectural Design & Consulting managed the structure, and ADA handled the lighting. The construction was led by Shanghai Tongcheng Building Technology & Engineering, with project oversight from the China Academy of Urban Planning & Design and others. The Longyou County People's Government commissioned the tower, which serves as a key landmark at the entrance of the art eco-corridor, addressing the challenge of retaining young talent in an area with few competitive industries.
