Yuko Mohri's Ephemeral Installations at Venice Biennale Embrace Natural Decay

Japanese artist Yuko Mohri presented fragile, evolving installations at the 2024 Venice Biennale's Japanese Pavilion. Her works, part of the 'Moré Moré (Leaky)' series begun in 2015, incorporated secondhand objects, fruits with electrodes, and water systems, designed to change with environmental conditions. Mohri, who recently won the Calder Prize, creates ecosystems from everyday items that generate sound through decomposition and random interactions. Her approach challenges traditional conservation, as seen in her major survey at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan, traveling to Centro Botín in Spain. Upcoming shows include presentations at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery in New York, the Barbican Centre in London, the Bass Museum of Art in Miami, and the Yokohama Museum of Art.
