YouTube Music Introduces AI Disclosure Labels Across Streaming Platforms

ai-technology · 2026-08-26

On Wednesday, YouTube Music introduced a new labeling system to identify songs that incorporate generative AI, featuring tags on both the player page and the main application. Users can click on these labels to learn about the involvement of AI in a song’s composition or vocals. The labels include: Fully Gen AI for tracks created entirely by AI, Partly Gen AI for those that mix AI and live elements, and No Gen AI for songs that utilize pitch-correction technology. This move aligns with the growing trend of AI-generated music, as Apple Music plans to launch "Made With AI" labels later this year, while Spotify already has AI labels, and Deezer reports nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks each day. YouTube emphasizes transparency, permitting monetization for tracks that involve AI and is experimenting with AI music creation through Dream Track.
