Yeasound RIC800 Hearing Aids: Solid Audio, Frustrating App

Yeasound, a subsidiary of Chinese telecom producer Yealink, has entered the over-the-counter hearing aid market with behind-the-ear (BTE) models. The higher-end RIC800 features AI-powered noise reduction, automatic speech focusing, and support for both Android and iOS. The in-app hearing test is expedited, completing in about five minutes, but audiograms cannot be imported. The app offers five environmental modes and a Sound Setting system for frequency and noise reduction adjustments. Adaptive mode uses AI but can introduce hiss and boominess; General mode with manual tuning often performed better. Audio assistance is effective but mid-level frequencies can be muddy. Bluetooth streaming and phone calls are strong, with good bass response. However, the iYeasound app frequently disconnects, requiring multiple resets daily. Battery life is overstated: claimed 31 hours but tested at 18 hours. The case provides three additional charges. The RIC800 uses contactless charging to improve durability and reduce skin allergies. Overall, the hearing aids offer above-average quality but are marred by persistent app issues that may frustrate less tech-savvy users.
