Yard Act's Third Album 'You're Gonna Need a Little Music' Marks a Bold Studio Shift

Leeds band Yard Act releases their third album 'You're Gonna Need a Little Music', recorded live in the studio for the first time. The band spent five months commuting between Leeds and Los Angeles with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Nine Inch Nails, St. Vincent, Wolf Alice), selecting tracks from nearly 50 songs. The result is a more powerful and conceptual sound, while retaining the unpredictable twists characteristic of the band. Frontman James Smith compares the album to Blur's 'Parklife', particularly for radio-friendly tracks like 'Talky Talky People' and indie-disco hit 'Cherophobe'. The title track draws from Pulp, 'New Beginnings' nods to Beck, and 'Thrill of the Chase' incorporates more rap than previous work.
