In Xi'an, China, the MC bar, designed by Xi'an School Studio, offers a unique escape with its lunar-inspired aesthetic and sustainable building methods. Inside, the lighting features circular pendants that mimic crescent moons, while wall mirrors represent full moons, creating a captivating ambiance that shifts as people move. Curved walls, reminiscent of mountains, enhance the flow of the space, and the meandering entrance provides a break from the city's hustle. The bar counter utilizes a 3D printed material made from recycled wheat straw, turning agricultural waste into something functional. The color scheme transitions from a dark grey ceiling to lighter walls and a darker terrazzo floor, emphasizing social interactions. The creative team—Ying Wang, Quan Yu, Wanling Wu, Jingya Shen, Yuanbo Jia, and Zhijun Lei—explores the concept of time through lunar symbols and natural forms, enriching the overall experience.
